Selfies with a Social Conscience
I don't think many people realize the social implications of the pictures that they post, except for the specific times where people post to bring light to an issue. Especially on social media cites like Instagram, because it's more used to show people what they are doing at the time and interested in. People can use these platforms to broadcast any information they want, for example a new club poster on someone's Instagram story. One example of people using their social media for social commentary was posting a black screen to their Instagram in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. People all across the globe could come together in support of a specific cause. Over 28 million people posted a black screen on January 2nd 2020. The movement caused backlash because activists claimed that it muted the actual important conversations and that just simply posting was not enough.

Great job Rory! The description of audio/music you listen to each day is really interesting. I would love to see you tie it back into the selfie conversation. Overall, great blog post
ReplyDeleteI really like the visuals of the different music and podcasts. I'm a little confused about the transition into selfies from music.
ReplyDeleteI really liked how you included the alarm has something you listened to today. When I first hear the title “What I listen to in a day” I would’ve assumed it just to be music but you thought outside the box for this one.
